Iskandar Puteri Kayak Challenge 2017, the kayak marathon which was held on 18 November 2017 was one of the successful event held for the first time at Puteri Harbour, Johor.
Proudly to say that this kayak marathon was the first joint event organized by Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) with Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal Council (MPJBT).

Kayak marathon was also held on the historical day of where Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) was launched by DYMM Tuanku Sultan Johor Darul Takzim
Opening Ceremony
Encik Uzaidi Udanis, The President of Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) was giving his opening speech before the launching of the opening ceremony.
The purpose of the kayak marathon is to promote the 3 elements in 1 destination. The mentioned elements were the Sport Tourism, whereby many kayak challenege or other water sport can be held here. Secondly was to promote the Eco and Heritage Tourism at Kampung Sungai Melayu. Lastly was to promote the Historical and Indigenous Culture Tourism
At first this event was expected to be having 50 participants but it was an overwhelming one with 150 participants. We are looking forward to have more participants next year especially from the international. We wish this activity could be the main icon for the coming year Visit Malaysia 2020.

The Opening Ceremony was launched by guest-of-honour Y.B. Dato’ Zulkurnain Hj. Kamisan (ExCo Belia dan Sukan, Kebudayaan & Warisan Negeri Johor), who represented the Menteri Besar of Johor.
Participants preparing for the take-off at the starting point. The kayak marathon started the race from the Puteri Harbour until the first checkpoint, the second-linked bridge and to finish the race until Kampung Melayu.
The first flagged-off for the Open Category
There are 5 different categories of the kayak marathon:
- Student Category for Male
- Student Category for Mix
- Open category for Male
- Open Category for Mix
- International Category for Mix
- Tourist Agency Category
The second flagged-off for the Student Category
Later on, we then departed to Kampung Sungai Melayu to witness other fun activity such as boat racing, duck catching, pillow fight, best-decorated boat and much more.
Iskandar Puteri Kayak Challenge 2017 ended their amazing race with prize giving ceremony which held at Kampung Sungai Melayu.
Last but not least, I would like to say thank you to Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) for giving us the media such a wonderful opportunity to witness this beautiful kayak marathon 2017. Of course, we are looking forward to 2018 even overwhelming Iskandar Puteri Kayak Challenge.
