Bangunan Sultan Ismail – Home of the State Parliament
It was an honored to be invited by Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) to witness the 1st Kayak Marathon which was held at Puteri Harbour, Johor. During our arrival in Johor, we followed Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) to visit this honorable place called Sultan Ismail Building.
Sultan Ismail Building, Johor’s “Living Gem which is well-known for its distinctive blend of architecture, a Moorish-Andalusian and Johor-Malay design.
Having two distinctive skylights, diamond shaped at the indoor garden view and another like pineapple. It is the symbol of Johor’s economic prosperity.
Watch democracy in action at the State Legislative Assembly Hall, Malaysia’s first parliament that’s open to the public. Cleverly integrated within the Hall are symbolisms of Johor’s past and bright future, such as black pepper motifs
Relax in the many lush gardens, such as the fragrant Laman Kasturi (Musk Lime Garden) and Laman Bunga Rampai (Potpourri Garden)

The late Sultan Ismail Al-Khalidi ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Ibrahim Al-Masyhur was the third Sultan of “Modern Johor” from 1959-1981 and the grandfather of the current Sultan. This is how Bangunan Sultan Ismail got its name.
Behind the building is the Kota Iskandar Mosque, a Johor second state mosque. Another amazing architecture and from far, you could see the beautiful carving.
Bangunan Sultan Ismail really opened my eyes especially during the learning of Johor’s History and the beautiful architecture inside. So much to learn, so much to know.
